Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Thursday laid the foundation for construction of sixty-bed capacity of a new cottage hospital in Gombi local government area.
Speaking at the event in Gombi town, Governor Umaru Fintiri explained that the project was a long over due because the people of the area only access healthcare service at Garkida general hospital.
He noted with concern, despite the growing population in Gombi town, successive administrations in the state had failed to construct a befitting hospital in the area to meet up with healthcare demands of the people.
He revealed that the present administration has changed the negative narrative of healthcare system in the state adding that primary healthcare centres have also being equipped to address emerging health challenges.
He enumerated other giant strides of government to include establishing Infectious Disease Treatment Centre in the state as well as purchase and distribution of medical equipment and consumables to three levels of healthcare delivery.
He added that others included approval for full take off of health insurance scheme, upgrade and renovation of healthcare facilities across the state as well as recruitment of more healthcare professionals in Adamawa.
The Commissioner of Healthcare and Human Services, Professor Abdullahi Isa while speaking said the sixty-bed capacity cottage hospital has all the clinical departments and urged the people to support the contractors.
In his remark, the Chairman Gombi local government council, Engineer Dimas Shekeil applauds Governor Umaru Fintiri for facilitating establishment of Air Force base in Gombi to curb menace of insecurity in the area and environs.
There were goodwill messages from Mr Japhet Kefas member representing Gombi constituency in the state Assembly and Special Adviser to the Governor on Political matters Alhaji Abdurrahman Bobboi among other stakeholders in the local government area.
Highlight of the event was cultural dance display by some different cultural groups in the area.
